Maaya Uchida just dropped the music video for the Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life ending theme

Maaya Uchida Drops Catchy New Single for the Season’s Wildest Demon King Rom-Com

If you have been keeping up with the summer 2026 anime season, you’ve probably already noticed that voice acting superstar Maaya Uchida is absolutely everywhere lately. Fresh off her performances for Chained Soldier and The Drops of God, she’s officially made it a triple threat by dropping the ending theme for Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life.

The new track, titled "Very Good Encount," just hit digital platforms on July 12, and the music video is already up on her official YouTube channel for your viewing pleasure. Not only is she crushing it on the vocals, but Uchida is also stepping into the role of Meru Tsumugina for the series, making her influence on this show feel even more personal.

A Wild Reunion After the Demon King’s Retirement

For those who haven’t jumped into the first episode yet, Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life is shaping up to be a chaotic good time. The premise is hilarious: we follow Ryusei Narukami, a former Demon King who decides to hang up his crown and become a shut-in NEET. Just when he thinks he’s mastered the art of doing nothing, his old nemesis, the Hero Meteor Hanaori, shows up in his second life—not as a warrior, but as an average high school girl.

Things get complicated fast. Determined to turn his life around, Ryusei lands a teaching job, only to discover he’s working at the same school as the very person who used to hunt him down. It’s an explosive setup that perfectly balances past trauma with unexpected romantic sparks.

The Talent Behind the Chaos

This adaptation of Hekiru Hikawa’s manga is in good hands. Studio LIDEN FILMS is handling the animation, with Hideyo Yamamoto (known for Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka) in the director’s chair. With series composition by Yukie Sugawara and a score by the dream team of Yukari Hashimoto and Ryuta Iida, the production quality is exactly what we’ve come to expect from such a promising summer lineup.

If you’re ready to see how a retired Demon King handles a classroom full of students (and one persistent hero), the first episode, "When Ryusei Met Meteor...," is already streaming on Crunchyroll. It is definitely one to add to your watchlist if you enjoy a mix of supernatural absurdity and school-life comedy. Don’t forget to stick around for the ED—"Very Good Encount" is easily one of the catchiest tunes to come out this season.
