Masayoshi Oishi just dropped the official opening for Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life and it is an absolute bop

Masayoshi Oishi Just Dropped the Ultimate Summer Banger for 'Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life'

If you have been keeping up with the summer 2026 anime season, you’ve likely already caught the infectious energy of the new opening theme for Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life. The wait is finally over—Masayoshi Oishi has officially released the full music video for the track, "High Maintenance Girl," and it is every bit as high-energy as you would expect from the anime music legend.

Oishi-san is a total powerhouse in the industry. Whether he is rocking out with his band, Sound Schedule, or dropping solo hits that climb the charts, he never misses. You probably recognize his signature style from bangers like Kemono Friends’ iconic theme or the sweet, melodic vibes of The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten. For "High Maintenance Girl," he handled everything himself—writing, composing, arranging, and even the technical programming.

A Passion Project Come to Life

It is clear that Oishi poured his heart into this one. He recently shared that he is a massive fan of the source material, which made the writing process feel like a breeze. "Because of my deep affection for it, the songwriting process went incredibly smoothly," Oishi said in a statement. "I was able to create a powerful song with a strong impact." He is just as excited as the rest of us to see where the story goes for Ryusei and Meteor this season.

What’s the Anime About?

If you haven't jumped into the show yet, you are missing out on one of the wildest premises of the summer. The story follows Ryusei Narukami, who was once a feared Demon King but has since retired to live a quiet, shut-in NEET lifestyle. That peace and quiet gets absolutely wrecked when his former rival—the Hero, Meteor Hanaori—reappears in his life, now posing as an ordinary high school girl.

The chaos escalates when Ryusei decides to turn his life around by becoming a teacher, only to find himself working at the exact school where Meteor is enrolled. It is equal parts hilarious and chaotic, and the studio behind it, LIDEN FILMS, is doing a fantastic job bringing the action to life under director Hideyo Yamamoto.

You can catch the first episode, titled "When Ryusei Met Meteor...", right now on Crunchyroll. It is currently available for viewers across most major regions, including North America, Europe, and many more. If you’re looking for a series that mixes supernatural stakes with messy high school drama, this is the one to watch. Don’t forget to check out the creditless opening on Oishi’s official YouTube channel to get the full "High Maintenance Girl" experience!
