The official website and social media accounts for Yura Yura Queen just went live, and they brought a massive announcement with them: Gido Amagakure’s charming comedy manga is officially being adapted into a TV anime!

While we are still waiting on the nitty-gritty details—like who is in the director’s chair, which studio is handling the animation, and when we can expect a premiere date—the buzz is already real. Amagakure-sensei is a pro at bringing us stories that feel like a warm hug. You might recognize them as the brilliant mind behind Sweetness & Lightning and the recent hit A Galaxy Next Door, both of which were absolute fan favorites.

What’s the Story About?

For those unfamiliar with the manga, which first kicked off in The Hana to Yume back in 2019, the story centers on Kyuko. She is a bit of a special case—born from a divine fox parent and a human, she’s surrounded by eight older siblings who are essentially the definition of talented and gorgeous. Poor Kyuko, on the other hand, struggles with her transformation powers, leaving her feeling a little "ordinary" in a family of superstars.

The real drama (and cuteness) kicks in when her childhood best friend, Haru-chan, starts dropping compliments about how much he loves everything about her. It’s the kind of pure, shy romance that makes your heart race. It’s not just a love story, though. The series promises to explore the insecurities of gods, fox spirits, and humans alike, all while Kyuko tries her best to find her own rhythm.

With five volumes of manga already out, there is plenty of source material to fuel a super fun adaptation.
