Yorushika fans rejoice as Suis drops the stunning music video for The Cat and the Dragon opening theme

suis from Yorushika Drops Whimsical Music Video for The Cat and the Dragon Opening

If you have been keeping up with the summer 2026 anime season, there is a good chance you have already fallen in love with the opening theme for The Cat and the Dragon. The track, titled "Nekojitsu" (Catdays), comes from the solo project of Yorushika’s iconic vocalist, suis. Universal Music Japan just dropped the official music video for the song, and it is every bit as charming as you would expect.

A Dream Team Collaboration

While suis is widely celebrated for her work alongside n-buna in Yorushika, her solo career has been hitting high notes lately, including her recent contribution to the Witch Hat Atelier soundtrack. For this particular project, she teamed up with none other than Tatsuya Kitani—the genius behind some of the most memorable themes in Bleach and JUJUTSU KAISEN—who handled the arrangement and composition. It is a powerhouse duo that perfectly captures the gentle, magical atmosphere of the show.

Speaking on the release, suis shared her genuine excitement. Not only did she write the lyrics herself, but she also poured her personal affection for her own feline companions into the track. "I’m so happy to have written about the heartwarming work that is The Cat and the Dragon," she mentioned, adding that she is just as eager as the rest of us to tune in every week for a dose of wholesome healing.

What is The Cat and the Dragon?

If the opening has piqued your interest but you haven't started the show yet, you are in for a treat. Based on the light novel series by Amara and Mai Okuma, the story follows a dragon named "Uncle Wings." After being orphaned at birth, he is adopted by a family of magical cats. He grows up determined to be their guardian, keeping them hidden and safe from humans. However, as his feline family starts to form their own bonds with the human world, Uncle Wings begins to soften his heart in this incredibly bittersweet tale.

The anime is being brought to life by studio OLM under the direction of Jin-Koo Oh. With beautiful character designs and a soothing soundtrack composed by Takahiro Obata, it has quickly become a must-watch for anyone who needs a little emotional comfort in their queue.

You can catch the creditless opening on YouTube right now, and if you are outside of Japan, the series is currently streaming on Crunchyroll across most global territories.
