The anime adaptation is officially in full swing, and to celebrate, the team just dropped the creditless opening sequence. It’s a gorgeous look at the series, and it features the track "Sunny" by milet—which is already stuck in my head on repeat.

Who’s Behind the Magic?

The production talent here is pretty stacked. Studio Doga Kobo is handling the animation, with Mitsue Yamazaki—fresh off the director’s chair for ZENSHU—leading the charge. The scripts are being handled by Yoshiko Nakamura, who knows a thing or two about workplace dynamics after her work on Isekai Office Worker, and the character designs come from Ai Kikuchi, known for the charming art of Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle. Toss in a score by Yukari Hashimoto, and you’ve got a recipe for a really polished experience.

What’s the Hook?

If you haven’t jumped in yet, the premise is a fun twist on the classic body-swap trope. We follow Reirin, the prince’s favorite "butterfly" of the court, and Keigetsu, a girl often looked down upon as a "court sewer rat." Driven by pure envy, Keigetsu uses magic to steal Reirin's life.

But there’s a catch—or rather, a massive, life-threatening problem. While Reirin has to navigate life in a body that was meant for the chopping block, Keigetsu quickly realizes that the life she stole is far more dangerous than she ever imagined. She’s essentially traded her status for a front-row seat to a deadly inner-court conspiracy. You can catch the show as it airs over on Crunchyroll, and honestly? It’s the perfect weekend watch.
