Midnight Heart Tune Returns: Season 2 Officially Set for 2027

Good news for fans of the airwaves! The anime adaptation of Tune in to the Midnight Heart is officially heading back to our screens. While 2027 feels like a lifetime away, the production team just dropped the news that the second season is currently in the works and slated for a Japanese broadcast in that year.

Along with the confirmation, we’ve been treated to a brand-new piece of teaser art to keep us hyped. They also pulled back the curtain on two new additions to the cast. Ami Koshimizu is joining the project to voice Riina Yamabuki, and the talented Kaede Hondo is stepping into the role of Mito Yamabuki. It’s exciting to see how these two characters will shake up the broadcasting club’s dynamic.

The Story So Far

If you need a quick refresher, the story centers on Arisu Yamabuki. He’s the heir to a massive business empire, but he’s not interested in just coasting on his family's wealth. He’s obsessed with a radio show called Midnight Heart Tune—or at least, he was, until the mysterious host, Apollo, suddenly went off the air. Once Arisu hits high school, he dives headfirst into the school’s broadcasting club and meets four aspiring girls who dream of making it big with their voices. He decides to stake his reputation on helping them reach the top, hoping it’ll help him keep a vow he made to Apollo long ago.

Who’s Behind the Mic and the Camera?

The production is being handled by studio Gekkou, with Masayuki Takahashi back in the director's chair. The series composition is once again being helmed by Yukie Sugawara, and we can expect character designs from Tomoyuki Shitaya. Plus, the musical magic returns with Kuniyuki Takahashi of MONACA, so get ready for another killer soundtrack.

The original manga, created by Masakuni Igarashi, has been running strong in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, racking up 13 volumes so far.
