Fran and Teacher Are Finally Back! Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 Locks In Premiere Date

Get ready to swing back into action because our favorite sentient blade and cat-eared powerhouse are returning to the screen very soon! The hype train for Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 just pulled out of the station, bringing along a gorgeous new key visual, a fresh trailer, and a rock-solid premiere date.

If you have been eagerly waiting to see what Fran and Teacher are up to next, mark your calendars. The new season drops early on the Japanese streaming platform ABEMA starting September 30, with the traditional TV broadcast following closely behind on October 7.

Killer Theme Songs and a Brand-New Voice

Alongside the release date, the production team dropped details on the artists handling the opening and ending themes. If you loved the tunes from Shangri-La Frontier, you are in luck. FZMZ is stepping up to provide the high-energy opening theme, "DREAM OF BUTTERFLY," which you can already sneak a peek at in the latest promotional video. Meanwhile, the powerhouse metalcore band HANABIE. will take care of the ending theme with a track titled "Baribari Buddy."

The new trailer also gives us a quick tease of some fresh vocal talent joining the cast. Voice acting veteran Sho Hayami is officially locked in to voice the character Lich, adding even more star power to an already stacked lineup.

The Dream Team Behind the Magic

Studio C2C is keeping the adaptation ship running smoothly. Shinji Ishihira, the mastermind behind TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy-, is back in the director's chair. Takahiro Nagano is handling the series composition, Atsuko Saito is bringing the character designs to life, and legendary composer Yasuharu Takanashi (famous for his incredible work on Fairy Tail) is crafting the soundtrack.

For those unfamiliar with the source material, Seven Seas Entertainment releases the original light novels by Yu Yanaka and Ruroo in English. The story follows an ordinary guy who wakes up reincarnated as a magical, nameless sword. After rescuing a young beastgirl named Fran from a brutal life of slavery, the two form an unbreakable bond. She wields him to grow stronger, while he just wants to figure out why he ended up in this fantasy world in the first place.
